Day 5: The student’s role in a conference
Challenge: Talk about your expectations for your students when they’re conferring with you in writing workshop. Then hold some mock conferences in fromt of your class, allowing the class to observe how each student set the agenda for the conference and followed through with the suggestions.
How did your students respond to the conferences you held in front of the class?
Were they able to recognize when the student strayed from talking about his or her writing?
Was your class able to recognize what they should say and do in a writing conference?
