Choice Cycle 2: Moving Toward Independence

Day 1: The proposal

Challenge: Using the information above, create your own “independent writing project proposal form (Appendix B). If you teach early elementary grades, you might want to set it up with direct questions and space for student responses. For older grades, a prose form might work better. Regardless, create a proposal form that works for you and the students you teach.

How will you provide feedback to your students about their independent writing project proposal forms? Written? Verbal? Both?

What ill you do if a student puts forth an idea that is either too easy or too challenging for the time allotted?

How will you use the independent writing project proposal forms as a means of holding students accountable for their work?
