Mini-Lessons Cycle 3: Making our Teaching Stick
Day 4: Teach the skills, not just the technology!
Challenge: Consider a piece of technology you would like to use in an upcoming lesson. Determine the skills it will help your students develop. For example, if you would like students to use a particular search engine as a research tool, make a list of skills students will need to research effectively. How does the search engine help them learn these skills?
Are your mini-lessons primarily focused on verbs (skills you expect students to learn) or nouns (tools you want students to use)?
How will you emphasize the skills students need to develop to become stronger writers while also teaching specific tools to support learning?
