Choice Cycle 3: Living the Life of a Writer

Day 1: Possibilities

Challenge: As you confer with students, ask them about the vision they have for their writing. As you grasp the hope they have for their writing, lead them to consider what strategies would help them meet their goal. If students don’t have a vision for their writing, then help them to find one by asking about the audience, purpose, and sound of their writing. If many students lack a vision, consider teaching a mini-lesson about envisioning possibilities for writing.

What kinds of hopes do students have for their writing?

What do you hope for your own writing?
